I built my desktop in April 2022 (with my best friend!!) after getting fed up with how terrible my laptop (Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH - do not buy!) was
and its
slow death cycle where I had to reinstall Windows every couple days, before I could replace and upgrade parts (it had a messed up screw so I had
to get help to open it and actually change the parts i'd accumulated, namely a 2TB new HDD, a 128GB SSD for the OS and 16 gigs of RAM...).
Ever since I'd bought it
it would also get incredibly hot, have lackluster performance and just be terribly built in general (battery died a year and a half after purchase, and I had to change the
fans because they weren't lubricated properly so after a while they started making jet reactor/machinegun noises and I literally could not take that laptop anywhere because of
how noisy it was, lol).

I'd love to have era-appropriate computers with Win95 / Win98, WinXP, and possibly DOS....more on that later.
