My current build

I built my desktop in April 2022 (with my best friend!!) after getting fed up with how terrible my laptop (Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH - do not buy!) was
and its slow death cycle where I had to reinstall Windows every couple days, before I could replace and upgrade parts (it had a messed up screw so I had to get help to open it and actually change the parts i'd accumulated, namely a 2TB new HDD, a 128GB SSD for the OS and 16 gigs of RAM...).
Ever since I'd bought it it would also get incredibly hot, have lackluster performance and just be terribly built in general (battery died a year and a half after purchase, and I had to change the
fans because they weren't lubricated properly so after a while they started making jet reactor/machinegun noises and I literally could not take that laptop anywhere because of how noisy it was, lol).

A couple comments:

Yes, this has a combined 10TB of storage! I got the external HDD because the rest was already full...
I got an incredible deal on the GPU, which was bundled with a (terrible but useful) gaming mouse for about 625€...
cheaper than the standalone GPU AND cheap in general at the time for a GPU of that level!
As you've noticed, I am very attached to having a CD/DVD drive. It's such an important feature that most cases nowadays don't have
and it annoys me that my laptops don't have one...bring optical drives back!!
The case is absolutely amazing if you're not looking to have RGB in your build.
It's roomy enough to build in comfortably, and you have a decent amount of I/O, mesh panels for airflow,
integrated fans, and there's a section in the back that you can route your cables through to have a neat view in the window.
and....it's really cheap! I only paid about 50€ for that case. If you don't mind a discreet case, I highly recommend it.

About my dream setup

I'd love to have era-appropriate computers with Win95 / Win98, WinXP, and possibly DOS....more on that later.
